CFEBA Awards Grant to Help Arlington County, Virginia Residents Avoid Utility Service Disconnection

08/09/2016

The Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association (CFEBA) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors awarded a $10,000 grant to Arlington Thrive, Inc. (Arlington Thrive).
Arlington Thrive will use these funds to provide emergency financial assistance to Arlington County, Virginia residents, who because of a sudden financial crisis, are unable to pay their utility bills.  In each case, Arlington Thrive’s utility service assistance will help clients get back on their feet after a crisis and will prevent a calamitous downward spiral, such as utility disconnection and possible eviction.  The funds will be allocated to the Daily Emergency Financial Assistance program, specifically for a Utility Assistance program that will assist approximately 50 additional households who face service disconnection in fiscal year 2016.

Founded over thirty-nine years ago, Arlington Thrive is a not-for-profit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to residents of Arlington County, Virginia, who are in crisis and cannot pay for their basic needs.  The majority of Arlington Thrive’s clients are the working poor, the physically and mentally disabled, retired seniors on fixed incomes, and the unemployed.  Families with children are given the highest priority.
